— About the Production
“Grga Čvarak” is a fundamental work of Croatian children’s poetry and an essential reading title since its creation in 1967. With its humor, it continues to delight children and adults alike. This beloved character, with his ambivalent nature, shows all the qualities of a real living child – it is precisely in this ambivalence of goodness and mischief that Grga’s greatest appeal lies.
— The Story & Message
This production explores the decade-long mystery of why Grga is so divided, finding the answer within all of us – none of us is purely black or white, but in Grga this is particularly pronounced. Through amplified actions and emotions, the play opens possibilities for theatrical dialogue and, hopefully, conversations within families and classrooms. Scene “Gorica” aims to instill empathy in new generations of children and make them aware that when approaching others, they should do so with the best intentions.

— What Makes It Special
This theatrical adaptation brings one of Croatia’s most beloved children’s characters to life on stage, combining entertainment with valuable life lessons about empathy and understanding. The production’s fundamental goal is to awaken the best in each of us through optimism and make this world a more beautiful place for children and families to enjoy together.
