Crkva svete Eufemije stoji kao jedno od najstarijih i arheolo\u0161ki zna\u010dajnih vjerskih mjesta u Omi\u0161u, s porijeklom koje se\u017ee u 5. ili 6. stolje\u0107e tijekom ranokr\u0161\u0107anskog razdoblja. Ostaci ove iznimne gra\u0111evine otkrivaju da je to bila jednostavna crkva s polukru\u017enom apsidom i posebnim klupama, arhitektonskim elementima koji su bili karakteristi\u010dni za dizajn ranokr\u0161\u0107anskih crkava i odra\u017eavaju razvijaju\u0107e liturgijske prakse tog razdoblja. The church’s foundations, which were recently explored and excavated during comprehensive archaeological research conducted in 2004, have yielded fascinating discoveries that illuminate both the building’s construction techniques and its historical significance. These archaeological investigations have revealed multiple phases of construction and renovation, suggesting that the site maintained its religious importance over many centuries and was repeatedly adapted to meet changing liturgical and community needs. The careful excavation work has also uncovered artifacts and architectural fragments that provide crucial evidence about early Christian life in this region of Dalmatia.<\/p>

Written sources from 1527 provide the first documented mention of the church, indicating that it remained an active religious site well into the early modern period despite its ancient origins. Posveta svetoj Eufemiji posebno je zna\u010dajna s obzirom na njezinu ulogu u ranoj kr\u0161\u0107anskoj povijesti i na Kalcedonskom saboru 451. godine, gdje su njezine relikvije navodno \u010dudesno potvrdile ortodoksni stav o prirodi Krista.
