How does it work?<\/strong> When you have a solar power system on your roof, all excess electricity you produce during summer that you don’t consume immediately is stored in the grid. In winter or at night, you can draw that excess back \u2013 without additional costs.<\/p>\n
This system is called net-metering<\/strong> and it’s a huge advantage for family homes.<\/p>\n
However, it’s important to know that conditions are changing from 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n
What’s Changing?<\/h3>\n
New regulations introduce so-called net-billing<\/strong>, which means you will no longer be able to use the grid as a virtual battery. You’ll have to sell excess energy to HEP at a lower price, while you’ll buy the electricity you consume at full price.<\/p>\n
Time is running out.<\/strong> This benefit will soon be eliminated for all new projects \u2013 take advantage of it while it still applies.<\/p>\n
For companies, this benefit already doesn’t exist.<\/strong> Legal entities (d.o.o.) already don’t have the right to net-metering \u2013 they must sell all excess at market price and pay for consumption at full price. That’s why profitability is somewhat lower for business users, and smart planning and use of battery storage are becoming increasingly important.<\/p>\n
