WORKSHOP INVITATION: DESTINATION MANAGEMENT PLAN AND CARRYING CAPACITY STUDY

We invite you to a workshop on developing the Destination Management Plan and carrying capacity study for the City of Omiš. The workshop aims to include all relevant stakeholders in the planning process and ensure sustainable and quality development of the tourist offer. The workshop is intended for all interested participants – representatives of the local community, tourism professionals, hospitality workers, entrepreneurs, and all citizens who wish to contribute to the destination’s development.

What will the workshop include?

  • Presentation of the Destination Management Plan development process – explanation of what the Plan means for Omiš, how it is intended to be used in decision-making (e.g., regulation of accommodation capacities, directing investments, planning spatial solutions) and how it will enable better coordination between public and private sectors.
  • Overview of current results – presentation of destination situation analysis and carrying capacity study through review of: structure of accommodation capacities and their relationship to population and space, sustainability indicators during peak season, research results among tourists and residents regarding satisfaction, perception of benefits and problems, initial calculations of carrying capacity for Omiš, Riviera, Hinterland (Zaobalje) and Trans-Mosor area (Zamosorje), etc.
  • Processing specific challenges and solutions by zones:
    • City of Omiš – crowds, traffic, public space, facilities for locals and tourists
    • Riviera – accommodation capacities, beaches, season extension
    • Hinterland (Zaobalje) – day-trip pressures on Cetina River, development of multi-day content and active tourism
    • Trans-Mosor area (Zamosorje) – revitalization, rural tourism
  • Practical examples of sustainable practices – presentation of measures that can be effectively implemented
  • Discussion on destination branding and promotion – collaborative work on questions: “What is Omiš for tourists today?” and “How do we want it to look in five years?”, including defining several clear and recognizable messages for target market segments
